Chris Bailey: Chris is a retired Fire Captain with San Ramon Valley Fire.  His 28 years of first responder experience includes, 911 Dispatcher, Firefighter, and Fire Officer.  As a former client of WCPR, he returns as a peer and is passionate about the program and assisting others who suffer from posttraumatic stress.  His energy includes lifting the silent stigma surrounding PTSD.

Dian Barkan: Dian is a LCSW currently in private practice working with couples, individual adults, adolescents and families. Dian specializes in crisis intervention, trauma, first responders, adolescent issues, parenting skills, family therapy, personal adjustment, case management and medical social work. Dian is a member of the Northbay Regional Critical Incident Stress Management Team and is a founding member of WCPR. Dian is a member of National Association of Social Workers, Forensic Mental Health Association of California and the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, Inc.

Ron Basque: Ron is a retired Sergeant from Sausalito PD with 28 years total in law enforcement. His experience includes, Dispatch, Jail, Patrol, Crime Prevention, Traffic, Hostage Negotiator and K9. He was an instructor for 14 years at the Santa Rosa No. California Regional Training Center. His area of instruction included Community Relations, Patrol Procedures, Crisis Intervention, Report Writing and Firearms.

Ann Buscho, PhD: Ann is a licensed clinical psychologist in San Rafael, CA. Her areas of specialty include family issues, divorce, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. She is a volunteer with Marin Medical Reserve Corps, and is experienced in critical incident stress debriefing and certified in EMDR. She is a co-founder of the SOS retreat and is married to a police officer.

Jack Canziani: After working for 32 years with the San Rafael Fire Dept., Jack retired at the rank of Captain. He has extensive EMS/Fire training, and is a member of the Northbay Regional CISM Team. Like a true firefighter, Jack enjoys organizing, planning and cooking the meals for the participants and staff members of WCPR. Jack is trained in Basic and Advanced Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) along with Basic Peer Support.

Ed Chicoine:  Ed is a 26-year veteran of law enforcement.  He started his career in the United States Air Force as a Law Enforcement Specialist assigned to a Drug Interdiction Team in a Para-rescue Unit.  He currently works as a Homicide Detective with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.  Ed was a member of the Special Response Unit (S.W.A.T.) for 13 years.  He has worked in a variety of assignments with the Sheriff’s Office, mostly on patrol and investigations.  Ed was a client with WCPR in 2003, after self admittedly “dealing with the symptoms of PTSD for years in the typical first responder ways of the past… ignore the beast until you’re staring at it’s tonsils and it’s stolen the enjoyment out of your life.”  Attributing the reduction of PTSD effects on his personal life to what he learned at WCPR, Ed has returned to serve with WCPR as a Peer Counselor.  He has also become a non-denominational Christian Chaplain, leading a street ministry program in the Stockton area.  He is now a member of the WCPR Chaplain Staff and serves in a dual role as a Chaplain and Peer Counselor.  He is also a member of the WCPR Board of Directors.  Ed currently leads the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office’s Peer Support Unit.  Ed says he began his career serving civilians with the para-rescue motto “That others may live…” but now says he would like first responders to find the freedom he has found, and serve their peers with the new motto “That those who serve others may live in peace…”

Stephanie Cress RN, LCSW, CTS: Stephanie Cress, RN, LCSW, CTS is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Registered Nurse with over thirty years experience working in Behavioral Health. She has a private psychotherapy practice in San Francisco and Pleasant Hill, California, specializing in trauma recovery, PTSD, First Responders, family homicides, EMDR, anxiety and depression. Stephanie is a member of the National Association of Social Work, the Clinical Social Work Association, the EMDR International Association, and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. She is a clinician member of the San Francisco Police Department’s Psychological Professional Panel, a Certified Trauma Specialist through the Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists. and is a Diplomate and Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress through the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. Stephanie also produced and co-directed the documentary, Looking Forward, Looking Backward: Families Survive Homicide, which is included in California State University, Sacramento’s Social Work program curriculum, and examines posttraumatic stress and the effects of homicide in families. Stephanie is also the Vice President of the first Responder Support Network.

Jennifer da Silva, Psy.D.:  Jennifer is a professional psychologist who works in the Marin County Jail and Mental Health Court.  She also works with the City of Berkeley providing psychiatric crisis intervention with the Berkeley Police Department.

Russell L. Davidson: Russ is retired from the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department after 21 years of Law Enforcement experience in Sonoma County. Russ' law enforcement assignments included undercover narcotics, patrol, homicide investigations and internal affairs. Russ is the owner of Russ Davidson Investigations and has been a volunteer peer with WCPR since January 2007. Russ spends his free time with his family, which includes 2 daughters.

Ann Gildersleeve, Ph.D.:  Ann is a licensed psychologist who has been in practice in Oakland for over 30 years.  She works with adults, adolescents and couples and specializes in the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, substance abuse and co-dependency.  She is a certified consultant in EMDR and also works as a facilitator, assisting at trainings in EMDR. She is proud and happy to be a part of the WCPR community.

Sue Faria: Sue is a former emergency services dispatcher (law, fire & EMS) with 14 years of experience. She has had Basic Peer Support training, as well as Basic and Advanced CISM.  Her husband recently retired after 37 years in law enforcement, and her stepson is currently a police officer in Northern California. Sue, a former participant of WCPR, is now an active peer support member as well as a member of the Northbay Regional CISM Team.

Joel Fay Psy.D: Joel started his law enforcement career in 1975 and retired from the San Rafael Police Department in 2011, after serving in Law Enforcement for over 32 years. Joel's past police assignments have included SWAT, Canine, Patrol, Investigations, Street Crimes Unit and Mental Health Liaison. Joel is a peer/clinician member of the West Coast Post-trauma Retreat and has been the Board President since 2002. In addition to his volunteer work at WCPR, Joel teaches a variety of topics to law enforcement throughout California, has a private practice and consults with numerous agencies. Joel earned his doctorate in Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology, is a licensed psychologist and specializes in emergency services response to critical incident stress. Joel is board certified in Police and Public Safety Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. Approximately 50 psychologist in the country has this certification.

Jody Greenhalgh, OTR/L, MCP, PhD: Over the past 25 years, Ms. Greenhalgh has practiced as an Occupational Therapist in a variety of healthcare settings including treating adults, pediatrics, and neo-natal patients in acute care tertiary hospitals. She works in specialized programs for patients enduring spinal and head injuries, neurological impairments, multi organ transplant, orthopedic and micro-vascular surgery, amputations, burns, muscle disease, cancer, AIDS, medical psychology, and other critical illnesses. Jody also offers support services for children with life-threatening diseases and their families. In addition, as a pre-doctoral intern, she provides psychotherapy for police officers, firefighters, and emergency workers who must cope with catastrophic events. Jody participates in critical incident debriefings addressing grief, death, suicide intervention, and posttraumatic stress issues. Jody has been a board of director's member for hospital ethics.

Greg Guion: After two years as an Army MP, Greg served with the Novato Police Department for over 30 years. Aside from patrol, Greg worked in Investigations, Youth Services Bureau, and as a School Resources Officer. Greg is trained in basic and advanced CISM, and has received training in many areas of family therapy. When Greg is not having fun with his two grandchildren, he enjoys volunteering to assist his emergency service peers.

Warren Hays: Warren was ordained by Santa Rosa Christian Church in 1980. He served as a teacher and principal at Covenant Christian School for 10 years. Warren graduated from the Law Enforcement Chaplain Academy in 1998 and is currently Senior Chaplain for The Law Enforcement Chaplaincy In Sonoma County which consists of 55 Chaplains serving The County. Warren is Senior Pastor of The Alexander Valley Christian Fellowship in Alexander Valley, Ca. and is involved in extensive outreach programs serving the local community. He has been trained in critical incident stress management, crisis intervention and grief counseling.

Jan Heglund: JAN HEGLUND was ordained at Grace Cathedral in S.F. in 1994.  She is a member at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ross, CA, and is currently serving as clergy at Christ Church in Sausalito, Ca.  She is a member of the Marin County Chaplains Association, Marin Interfaith Clergy Association, a Sr. Rated Chaplain with the International Conference of Police Chaplains, a member of the Marin County Peer Support Team, the North Bay Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Team and on the Episcopal Diocese of California Commission on Clergy Wellness.  Jan is a chaplain with the San Rafael Police Department and a chaplain with the FBI in S.F. and surrounding region.  She has served as chaplain at Ground Zero, at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and serves as clergy in Newfoundland.  She has credentials in Critical Incident Stress Management and Individual Crisis Intervention.  She was a founding member of WCPR.

Janice Hoaglin: Janice is a firefighter with the San Francisco Fire Department. She attended WCPR because she suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Seeing the results the retreat provided for her and the other participants she returned after her graduation as a peer counselor. Wanting to do more for those who still suffer from PTSD she continues to attend classes to further her PTSD education.

Jim Hyde: Jim is the Police Chief for the Antioch Police Department. His 30 years of law enforcement experience include the Novato, Sacramento, Davis and Antioch Police Departments. Chief Hyde holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Dakota and a MA degree in Clinical Psychology from the Professional School of Psychology, Sacramento. He is a graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Police sponsored by the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University and the Police Executive Research Forum. Chief Hyde is a certified Executive Coach and a doctoral student studying Organizational Psychology. Chief Hyde was the co-coordinator of the Sacramento Police Department's Peer Support Program for 20 years. He has taught and developed peer support programs for law enforcement personnel throughout California. He is a member of the Sacramento Regional CISD Team and the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. Chief Hyde is currently providing trauma recovery consulting to the California National Guard by developing a Peer Support Program for troops deploying to and returning from the Middle East. Jim is also one of the original founding members of the West Coast Post-trauma Retreatsm.

Erin Inskip: Erin is a retired law enforcement officer with 13 years of service. Erin served 5 years as a police officer with the Tiburon Police Department and 8 years with the Marin Co. Sheriff's Office. Assignments included the positions of patrol deputy, detective and field training officer. Erin lost her career as a result of developing PTSD, subsequent to a critical incident and she was a client of the very first WCPR session. Erin also attended the On-Site Academy in Boston as a client. Erin is trained in peer support and became involved as a peer to help other emergency service personnel. Erin can relate to what our program is about and how beneficial and critical it is to deal with the issues surrounding PTSD.

Mark D. Kamena, Ph.D.: Mark D. Kamena, Ph.D.: Mark is a licensed psychologist who has a private practice in Novato, CA. He conducts adult neuropsychological assessments and psychotherapy, focusing on issues related to anxiety, depression, cognitive disorders, trauma, substance abuse and anger management. He is the Clinical Director for the First Responders Support Network (which includes both WCPR and SOS). He is also the Chair of the Division of Clinical and Professional Practice of the California Psychological Association (CPA), a Trustee for the CPA PAC, and Program Chair for the CPA 2012 Convention. He is a former Berkeley, CA Police Officer and, in addition to his doctorate in clinical psychology, has Master’s degrees in Business Administration, Psychology, and Criminology. His wife, Paula, is the retired Marin County District Attorney.

Emily A. Keram MD: Emily is a faculty member of the UCSF Psychiatry and the Law Program. She was previously the founding Director of the Santa Rosa VA Mental Health Clinic where she developed and implemented individual and group treatment programs for veterans with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Emily continues to treat individuals, including law enforcement officers, with PTSD and other issues. She has presented on various aspects of Suicide by Cop at the FBI Academy, the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law and to law enforcement agencies throughout California. Emily provides training on mental illness through San Francisco Police Department’s CIT program and served on the POST committee that developed a model training program regarding law enforcement officers’ contacts with the mentally ill. Emily completed her medical and psychiatric training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a graduate of the first class of the United States Department of Justice Fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at the Federal Evaluation Center in Butner, North Carolina.

Dr Ellen Kirschman is a clinical psychologist, consultant, and trainer with over twenty years experience working with public safety personnel, their agencies, and their families. She authored two books. "I Love a Cop: What Police Families Need to Know" and "I Love a Fire Fighter: What the Family Needs to Know" (2004). "I Love a Cop" was first published in 1997. A revised--post 9/11, post Katrina--edition was released in 2007. It has sold more than 85,000 copies and is used worldwide in police and spousal academies. She is a co-founder of policefamilies.com, and in 2000 was named Woman of Distinction by the Police Chiefs Spouses Worldwide. She provides workshops worldwide.  Ellen is the recipient of the American Psychological Association (Division 18) 2010 award for outstanding contribution to police and public safety psychology.

Karin Kleiner, MFT:  Karin is a Marriage and Family Therapist who has been in practice in Oakland for many years and had worked for Alameda County Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol services for 10 years.  She specializes in the treatment of PTSD, depression, anxiety, work place and performance issues, substance abuse and co-dependency, working with young adults, adults and couples. Karin is a Approved EMDRIA Consultant, is a facilitator in EMDR trainings and a volunteer with the EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Program.

Gary Larsen: Gary is a retired 32 year career Police Officer, 30 years with the Berkeley Police Department, Berkeley, CA. Gary’s law enforcement training includes the following: Basic Peer Counseling, Basic & Advanced Techniques of Peer Counseling, Basic & Advanced Critical Incident Stress Management, Post Traumatic Stress Debriefing and Traumatic Stress Management. Gary was a peer supporter with Berkeley PD, head of the Berkeley PD Debriefing Team, a Member of the North County CISM Team and Board Member of the California Peer Support Association for 6 years. Gary was an instructor for Dispatcher Stress Management and Basic Critical Incident Stress Debriefing. Gary also serves as the Head of the Peer Support Program for the Alameda Co. Red Cross and is a member of the National Red Cross Critical Response Team.

Jan Myers: A founding member of WCPR, Jan is a former police dispatcher with a total of 23 years of first responder experience, 19 years being law enforcement. Jan is trained in Basic and Advanced CISM, Peer Support, Families and CISM, Tactical Dispatch, and Emotional Survival. As a CA POST Master Instructor, some of the courses she has taught include stress management (sworn and non sworn) and PTSD in regard to WMD.  She has taught at the criminal justice training centers at Napa Valley and Santa Rosa Jr. colleges.  She is currently a training coordinator with the Oregon Dept. of Public Safety Standards and Training. Jan has received a law enforcement certificate from SRJC and a BS from CSU-Long Beach in Emergency Operations Management.  Jan is married to a career law enforcement officer (retired).

Andy O’Hara: Andy retired as a sergeant from the California Highway Patrol after 24 years of service.  A Board Member of the Sacramento American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Andy is also a member of the California Peer Support Association (CPSA), the International Police Association (IPA), Retired Peace Officers Association (RPOAC) and the Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists (ATSS).  With experience facilitating group therapy in a hospital outpatient setting, Andy works regularly as a peer with WCPR.  A graduate of the POST approved Advanced Peer Counseling course, Andy also works full time as Executive Director of the Badge of Life Police Psychological Survival program headquartered in Sacramento.

Louise Pagone: Louise has worked for the County of Marin since 1981 with 11 years spent in County Probation and the rest with the Sheriff's Department where she currently works in Records & Warrants. She is a member of the peer support team with the county. Louise has received training in Basic Peer Support and Crisis Intervention.

Louisa A. Parks, PsyD : Louisa practices clinical psychology, specializing in PTSD and neurorehabilitation. She uses EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to treat the symptoms of critical incident stress. Dr. Parks has volunteered her services at WCPR since 2008.  She provides individual and group treatment, as well as neuropsychological testing, in Novato, Oakland, and Orinda. Her training includes two years as a postdoctoral resident at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento on the spinal cord and brain injury unit, and a year at Laguna Honda Hospital in San Francisco. Louisa is a former New York City resident, and a member of the Red Cross disaster response team. She responded to the World Trade Center on 9/11/2001.

Michael F. Pool, Sgt. (Ret.): Mike is retired after having served 30 years in municipal law enforcement agencies.   Following retirement, Mike went in to the private sector performing P.I. work, Executive Protection and Fraud Investigations for 3 major Banking Institutions.  Mike’s area of experience included Dispatch, Patrol, Investigations, Narcotics and Special Response Team (SWAT). Mike is a past member and formerly the President of the Northbay CISM Team. Mike has participated in critical incident debriefings for all emergency services disciplines for agencies throughout the U.S, including the U.S. Coast Guard, Canada and Europe. Mike is a founding member of WCPR, and is currently the Peer Coordinator.

John Quinn: John is a retired Sergeant with 28 years service with the San Jose Police Dept. During his career John has worked Patrol, Special Operations and Robbery/Homicide. He was a member of SJPD's Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Team since 1989. He joined WCPR in 2002. John holds a BS degree in Criminology from the University of Tampa. He also holds Basic and Advanced Certificates in Critical Incident Stress Management.

Michael J. Shea: Mick is retired from the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) after 32 years service.  He now works as a part time Deputy Sheriff with the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.  The last part of his service in San Francisco he was assigned to the Stress Unit, which is part of the Behavioral Science Unit.  This unit focused on substance abuse as well as other stress related factors that adversely affect sworn and civilian members of the department.  An original member of the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT), Mick was one of the coordinators upon his retirement.  He has been trained as both a peer and substance abuse counselor.  A member of WCPR since it started in 1999.

Eva Tak, MFT: Eva is a peer/clinician at WCPR. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, as well as a 21 year law enforcement veteran. Retired as a lieutenant with the Richmond Police Department, she served 18 years on the Crisis/Hostage Negotiation Team, leaving as the team commander. She worked numerous assignments, enjoying patrol the most. Eva has a private psychotherapy practice in El Dorado Hills, working with adults and couples. She specializes in trauma recovery, PTSD, depression, anxiety, EMDR, couples relationship issues and is trained in Emotional Focused Couples Therapy. She works with emergency responders, military personnel and their families, and EMDR with medical issues. She is a board member of the Sacramento Valley Chapter of California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, member of the El Dorado Peer Support Team, Placer County CISM Team and EMDR International Association. Eva is also married to a retired police officer.

Judy Tiktinsky, Ph.D., LCSW:  Judy is a psychotherapist in private practice in San Francisco with 25 years clinical experience with individuals, couples and families. She has worked with individuals and organizations to address work family life issues; couples to facilitate improved communication and satisfaction, and individuals to resolve grief, depression, anxiety, isolation and anger.  She is a Marriage and Family Therapist with specialized training in medical hypnosis and EMDR.  She provided clinical services and consultation in schools, hospitals, public and private organizations.  She is proud to be a member of the WCPR community and believes the retreats support the health of all who are involved with it.

Kay Williams, MFT: Kay is a Marriage and Family Therapist with a private practice in Cameron Park, CA, who specializes in acute trauma, PTSD, anxiety and depression. She is a Certified Trauma Specialist with the Association of Traumatic Stress Specialist and is a member of the NorCal CISM team in Sacramento. Aside from her private practice, Kay also works with both active duty and reserve military personnel. Additionally, she provides critical incident stress management services to the private sector.

Marilyn J. Wooley, PhD.: Marilyn Wooley is a licensed clinical psychologist and certified traumatologist who has practiced in Redding, California since 1979. She has extensive experience in the treatment of post traumatic stress and related disorders, and is proficient in both Eye Movement Desensitization /Reprocessing and Thought Field Therapy. Marilyn has certification through the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation to teach Mitchell Model Critical Incident Stress Management: Group Crisis Intervention (Basic and Advanced) and Assisting Individuals in Crisis. Over the past 20 years, she has provided CISM education and services to numerous law enforcement, fire, EMS, and government agencies, private companies, and medical facilities. Marilyn was also accepted to serve on the Board of the Association for Traumatic Stress Specialists in 2009.As a volunteer for the American Red Cross, she provided services for those affected by 9-11 and other disasters. She has served as a volunteer for the West Coast Post-trauma Retreat in California since 2001. She spends her spare time white-water kayaking, skiing, scuba diving and writing mysteries. She published her first novel 2000.
